Greece fighting Turk plan on Cypriot envoy exchange

Greece says it will not tolerate an exchange of envoys between Turkey and the self-proclaimed Turkish-Cypriot state and summoned NATO ambassadors to a meeting yesterday on the dispute.

In Athens, Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou said, ''The United States and our other NATO partners have to understand that Greece will not tolerate these arbitrary acts in Cyprus. We shall wait for their reaction.''

United Nations Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar expressed deep regret over the exchange of ambassadors.
