Colombia guerrilla group reportedly OKs cease-fire

President Belisario Betancur said Sunday night that Colombia's largest guerrilla group had agreed to an indefinite cease-fire which could end almost three decades of violence.

The cease-fire is tentatively scheduled to begin May 28 and would open a period in which the 4,000-strong Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) would be allowed openly to ''organize itself politically, economically, and socially,'' he said.

The agreement reached with the pro-Moscow FARC ''will newly condemn and disauthorize kidnapping, extortion, and terrorism in all its forms and will contribute to the end of their practice, as they are attacks against peace and human dignity,'' Mr. Betancur said.
