Mogadishu, Somalia — Rebel groups in Ethiopia agree to strive for unitymap
Two rival rebel groups fighting to separate Eritrea from Ethiopia have agreed to bury their differences and coordinate action against Ethiopia's Marxist government.
The Eritrean People's Liberation Front and the Eritrean Liberation Front-People's Liberation Forces issued a statement here Tuesday, saying a joint committee would be set up to achieve unity. The Liberation Forces, by far the largest and most active of the Eritrean secessionist movements, had previously refused any alliance with other groups, which are usually supported by conservative Arab states.
