PBS president leaving to head up NBC News
Lawrence K. Grossman, president of Public Broadcasting Service since 1976, will become president of NBC News in May. Reuven Frank, the current NBC News president, will retain management of NBC election coverage through the 1984 conventions, at which time he will become a member of the NBC News production team in a capacity to be announced.
Mr. Grossman led PBS as it installed broadcasting's first national satellite system and is generally credited with putting PBS on a sound financial footing. He played a critical role in developing TV's first one-hour evening news program , the ''MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour.''
