200 US marines withdraw to ships off Lebanon coast
US marines exchanged fire with gunmen around Beirut airport Wednesday, but no casualties were reported as the marines remained on medium alert. About 200 marines withdrew from what was considered an extremely vulnerable position in the Lebanese University to US Navy ships lying off the coast.
