Guatemalan head of state plans to step down in '85

The Guatemalan head of state, Gen. Oscar Mejia Victores, will step down July 1, 1985, a government spokesman announced Tuesday. The spokesman did not say when elections would be held to choose a new president, but he said Mejia Victores, who ousted former head of state Efrain Rios Montt in an Aug. 8 coup, had also decided to delay Constituent Assembly elections next July.
