A mutt named Fred won dogdom's highest honor last weekend - a permanent place in the Animal Hall of Fame in Tampa, Fla. On May 13 he saved eight children and their mother who were sleeping in a burning house. The brave canine forced open the door to the mother's bedroom and pawed her awake to alert her to a fire in the living room.
