Well, cowpokes! Gather 'round the fire. Just when it looked as if the chief wrangler, T. Boone Pickens, had managed to lasso another live one, General American Oil, it busted out of his corral. Now Phillips Petroleum is putting its brand on the elusive oil company. But don't fear for Boone. Phillips is paying $ 45 a share for GAO - $5 more than Boone - and Boone will get $15 million to cover his expenses. There should be enough left for a great barbecue!
