Court freezes assets of Dorfman-owned firms

A federal judge froze the assets of four companies owned by Allen Dorfman, who was convicted earlier this month with Roy Lee Williams, Teamsters union president, and three other men on charges of conspiring to bribe US Sen. Howard Cannon of Nevada.

US District Court Judge Nicholas Bua placed in receivership the assets of Dorfman's Amalgamated Insurance Agency Services Inc., which has a multimillion-dollar contract with the Teamsters Central States Pension Fund, and three related Dorfman companies. The judge issued the emergency order at the request of Secretary of Labor Raymond Donovan.
