Recovery of three bodies from MX site is delayed

Recovery of the bodies of three of four men killed when solid rocket fuel ignited in an MX missile test cell 250 feet below ground may take several more days, the Air Force said. One of the bodies was recovered Monday.

Heavy-duty pumps in the underground test cell were damaged in the explosion and fire Saturday night, and smaller-capacity pumps had to be installed. The victims were believed to be buried under some 600,000 gallons of water that was used to extinguish the fire.
