Soviet trade czar says US mustn't use trade weapon

Soviet Foreign Trade Minister Nikolai Patolichev told 250 American businessmen here that Washington must renounce its use of trade as a ''weapon'' against the Soviet Union.

Speaking at a meeting of the US-USSR Trade and Economic Council in Moscow, Mr. Patolichev said the United States share of Moscow's imports was far below potential and had suffered badly because of Washington's political moves against trade. He made no mention of President Reagan's decision to lift sanctions against the construction of a gas pipeline from Siberia to Western Europe, but implied that the American leader would have to go further to win Moscow's trust.
