Philippines ravaged by worst typhoon this year

At least 68 people were killed and 22 more feared dead when Typhoon Nancy, the most powerful to strike the Philippines this year, swept the islands Oct. 14 and 15.

The typhoon also left tens of thousands homeless. Peak winds of 120 m.p.h. devastated sugar cane and rice crops and damaged roads, bridges, and power lines , the government said.
