Senate fails to halt filibuster on prayer

The Senate failed Thursday for a fourth time to end debate on a controversial school prayer amendment blocking action on a debt limit bill.

The Vote was 53-45, seven votes short of the 60 needed to end the marathon filibuster liberals have mounted to block any action on the amendment, which would permit bvoluntary prayer in schools. Baker said he take action to scrap the old one and bring up a new debt limit bill to which no amendments could be attached.
