William Paley, who founded the Columbia Broadcasting System in 1928, said he would resign as chairman of the board of CBS effective April 20 of next year.
Mr. Paley will become a consultant to CBS at the end of his current term on the board. Thomas Wyman, currently CBS president and chief executive officer, will succeed Mr. Paley as board chairman, CBS said.
