Consumer confidence declines

After two months of slight gains, the consumer-confidence index has declined slightly, according to the Conference Board. The board's index (1969-70 equals 100) dipped from 58.3 in May to 57.1 in June. The drop-off reflects consumers' appraisal of current business conditions, the board said.
