Unions, Parliament 'outs' protest India's strike curb

More than 10,000 demonstrators -- mostly members of major trade unions -- staged a rally and almost the entire opposition walked out of Parliament in protest against the Indian government's tough new antistrike powers. Under the new ruling, the government can prohibit strikes in essential services and hold summary trials of strikers.
