Hunt on in South Africa after rebel rocket firings

Authorities sealed off black townships in a search for nationalist guerrillas who fired four Soviet-made rockets into a sprawling military complex near here. The attack, which caused minor damage, was the first time Soviet-built 122-mm rockets have been used in an assault on targets inside the country, a military spokesman said, adding that the outlawed African National Congress (ANC) was responsible.

Meanwhile, the Herald newspaper reported that the ANC, which has concentrated on sabotaging key installations in its battle to overthrow white minority rule, says it plans to broaden its operations to include attacks on government officials.
