134 who failed to sign up for draft face prosecution
Washington — The selective service has sent the Justice Department the names of 134 men who failed to register for the draft and may be named for federal prosecution. By selective service count, about 97 percent of the first group of eligible men signed up. But the compliance rate has been on a decline since then. Less than 70 percent of those who were born in 1963 and should have signed up by now have done so. By the end of the year, officials estimate, more than 500,000 men will b e in technical violation of the law.
