India and China to seek settlement over border

India and China agreed on talks to resolve their boundary dispute, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi said after meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Huang Hua. India and China fought a border war in 1962. The dispute has remained unresolved, causing strain in the relationship between them.

Asked whether there had been agreement on the border issue, she said: "The agreement is that we should talk about it."

The level of the talks will be decided at a later date.

Mrs. Gandhi also said she accepted an invitation from Premier Zhao Zhiyan g to visit China.
