The Reagan administration, which was not concealed its coolness to the UN, seems about to deliver another serious blow to the world body. Latest expectation: the US will cut its financial contribution to less than 25 percent of the UN total. Washington once shouldered as much as a third of the UN's expenditure. But the Nixon administration, also not overly enamored of the UN, reduced that share to 25 percent back in 1974.
In April, the US effectively blocked the UN Law of the Sea Conference by pulling out just before the conference was about to begin in New York. It has since withdr awn from the so-called North-South dialogue.m
