4 US sailors who strayed near Cuba to be released

Cuban authorities have told the United States that four American sailors arrested Sunday after their small boats strayed into Cuban waters are safe and arrangements are being made for their release, the State Department said. Department spokesman Dean Fischer said a Cuban sea patrol fired an apparent warning shot over the two 14-foot boats after they "inadvertently strayed" into Cuban waters beyond the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay. He said Cuban authorities told the head of the US interests section in Havana that they would mak e arrangements to transfer the sailors to his custody.
