Gen. Alfonso Armada was placed under house arrest Thursday, 24 hours after being dismissed as deputy Army chief of staff for involvement in this week's attempted right-wing coup, military sources said. Political sources said General Armada tried unsuccessfully to enlist the support of King Juan C arlos in the thwarted military coup by Francoist generals.
