Managua orders diplomats home from San Salvador

Nicaragua has ordered the entire staff at its embassy here to return to Managua in an apparent severing of diplomatic relations with El Salvador, diplomatic sources said Wednesday. The move came two days after El Salvador closed its embassy in Nicaragua after a statement by the Salvadoran foreign minister that evidence was being gathered to accuse Nicaragua of aiding left-wing guerrillas. The guerrillas have been struggling to overthrow El Salvador's US-backed junta, and charges have been made that they received Nicaraguan arms.
