Massachusetts closes schools to save heat

Gov. Edward J. King ordered the closing of gas-heated schools across Massachusetts to ease the state's critical shortage of natural gas. The closing will save an estimated 4 million cubic feet of gas daily, the governor's press secretary said. No other conservation steps to force a reduction in the use of natural gas were discussed.
