Italian police storm jail to rescue hostages

Paramilitary police stormed a maximum-security jail here and freed 18 guards taken hostage by urban guerrilla detainees. Only minor injuries were reported in the rescue launched 24 hours after more than 70 inmates led by a Red Brigades urban guerrilla leader staged their revolt. Initial police reports said three or four guards were injured in the rescue operation.
