Maintenance team checks inside Three Mile A-unit

Three Mile Island operators sent a five-man team into the building housing the damaged nuclear reactor to perform the first maintenance since the March 28, 1979, accident. Two men emerged from the contaminated reactor building after 90 minutes inside. The others left the building after another 55 minutes. They took photographs, measured radiation levels, and opened an access door jammed shut since the accident occurred.
