President Sadat rejected an American call for an early resumption of peace talks with Israel and stuck to his demand for a three-way summit after the US presidential election in November. Citing the "hard-line Israel position and President Carter's preoccupation" with his election campaign, he called attempts to revive the talks now "futile."
