Three Palestinian plots reported foiled by Israelis

Security forces in Israel and Scandinavia foiled Palestinian plots to kill Agriculture Minister Ariel Sharon and his family, seize a hotel in Copenhagen, and kidnap an El Al flight crew, Israeli reports said Tuesday. Israel's Army radio said four residents of the occupied Gaza Strip were arrested in the Sharon plot, reported by military sources. Israeli newspapers reported the smashing of the plot in Scandinavia in which young Swedes were to seize the hotel in the Danish capital and take an El Al crew member prisoner.

The reports agreed that a Palestinian guerrilla organization was behind the plot. Mr. Sharon, a reserve major general known as a hawk, put down an insurrection in the Gaza Strip in 1968 and has been one of the most outspoken proponents of Jewish settlement in the occupied territories.
