The South Korean government said Wednesday it has fired more than 200 senior public officials on suspicion of corruption as part of its "purification drive" aimed at "safeguarding the state." The group included a Cabinet minister, six vice-ministers, and three provincial governors. Fifteen officials are under investigation.
