California has fewer new jobs to offer

Only 30 percent of California's leading industrial organizations added new jobs to their employment rolls in April. Security Pacific National Bank's employment opportunity index, which peaked in December 1979 at 73.3, dropped in April to 35. This was the fourth consecutive month in the state for a significant decline, the bank stated.
