Carter says he'll resume US travel to back policies

President Carter, claiming the administration has "turned the corner" in fighting inflation, said Thursday he will resume traveling around the country to defend his domestic and foreign policies. He had said Wednesday he planned to end his self-imposed ban on travel and campaigning despite an earlier promise to stay in the White house until the American hostages in Iran were released. A Carter spokesman said the President will not debate with Sen. Edward Kennedy, his challenger for the Democratic nomination, but will take on the Republican candidate if Mr. Carter is nominated.
