No sign that India prevails on USSR for Afghan exit

Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko ended two days of formal talks with Indian leaders Wednesday with no indication that New Delhi had been able to persuade Moscow to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. India had expressed the hope that the Soviet Union would pull out its troops and advocated persuasion rather than confrontation to gain that objective.
