Brown withdraws in Iowa; backer neutrality asked

Faced with a drubbing, California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. has withdrawn from Iowa's presidential precinct caucuses, the first voting in the 1980 campaign for the White House. Governor Brown asked his supporters to be uncommitted in the grass-roots precinct voting in Iowa on Monday.
