  • Life, liberty, and 'liking': Court rules Facebook likes are free speech

    In a lawsuit involving a campaign employees who claimed he was fired in part for 'liking' the Facebook page of his boss' opponent, a Virginia appeals court ruled liking a page could be equated to supporting a candidate at a public rally, and is protected under the US Constitution. 

  • Could ‘liking’ something on Facebook get you fired?

    That’s what six sheriff’s deputies say happened to them after they ‘liked’ the political opponent of their boss. A district judge ruled that Facebook likes aren't protected speech, but the case is being appealed.

  • Somali pleads guilty in case of pirate attack on US warship

    Jama Idle Ibrahim admitted in federal court Friday that he was one of several men who attempted on April 10 to commandeer what they believed was a merchant ship. It was actually a US warship, the USS Ashland. Ibrahim has agreed to testify against five other defendants.
