A few weeks ago, there were 68 teams. Now, only one - the University of Connecticut Huskies - stand alone as 2011 NCAA tournament champions. Along the way, there were thrills, upsets and outstanding individual performances, which this annual ritual never fails to supply in abundance.

Arizona dismissed Duke Thursday night, making the Blue Devils the second No. 1 seed sent home in this year's NCAA Tournament. In tonight's Sweet 16 action, four teams from the bottom half of the seeding try to continue their improbable runs and the two remaining No. 1 seeds try and hang on.

There's been much debate ever since the NCAA expanded the field of the men's Division 1 Basketball Tournament to 64 teams in 1985. This, paired with the NCAA's decision (also that year) to introduce the shot clock, has helped make it possible for the mid-major and smaller conferences to better compete with the power conferences.

One of the most enjoyable things about the NCAA tournament – for basketball fanatics and casual observers alike – is the Cinderella story. On Thursday, Morehead State chalked up the first upset of the tournament by vanquishing No. 4 Louisville. There’s just something appealing about watching the triumph of the little guy - the team no one ever paid any attention to, never gave a chance. Or maybe it's watching the titan, the sure-thing, the team that everyone knows will win, well, not win. Here is our Top 10, plus one.

NCAA tournament kicks off Tuesday night with a pair of play-in games. Once we get to Thursday, the NCAA tournament really gets cooking.

A professor of sociology led a field trip through Kentucky's Creation Museum, a fundamentalist Christian facility. The professor found that non-fundamentalists felt uncomfortable there. Museum officials say they've received death threats and the site sometimes draws anti-Creationist protesters.
