Israel has closed the Nahal Oz crossing into Gaza for security reasons. Host to the sole oil and gas terminal serving Gaza, it's also the site of several recent militant attacks.
Israel temporarily closed its crossings into Gaza Tuesday after a soldier was killed by a roadside bomb. After the attack, Israeli forces killed one Palestinian and wounded a senior militant.
But Israel also reopens border to allow humanitarian supplies into Palestinian territory.
The former president arrived in Israel Sunday as Palestinians in Gaza continued to cope with an Israeli-imposed fuel blockade.
