The portrait of Hilary Mantel is the first painting of a living author to be displayed at the British Library. The painting intends to show Mantel’s “impact in the world.”
Mantel's short story collection, reportedly titled 'The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher,' follows her critically acclaimed historical novels 'Wolf Hall' and 'Bring Up the Bodies.'
Gilbert returns to fiction with her new novel, which was released Oct. 1.
Books including 'The Lowland' by Jhumpa Lahiri and 'We Need New Names' by NoViolet Bulawayo made the shortlist for the Man Booker Prize this year, and some are calling the shortened list of nominees the best in years.
While some books on this year's Man Booker prize long list have gotten buzz here in the US, none of them compare (so far) with the success of last year's winner, Hilary Mantel's 'Bring Up the Bodies.'
