Stocks rose Monday on hopes that the Federal Reserve will continue to stimulate the economy and support a rally in stocks. Weak economic reports helped convince investors that the Fed will hold off from slowing down its $85 billion bond-buying program.
The rally started early and gathered force in the afternoon. The charge turned the Dow positive for 2012 and erased the biggest loss of the year less than a week after it happened to close at 12,414..
Saving money is nearly impossible in an economy ridden with debt. But for the 70 million baby boomers approaching retirement age, it's the only choice there is.
