When Election 2010 came and went, we thought the highest-profile losers – most of them Republican tea partyers – might fade quietly into oblivion. Not this group, for the most part. At least one is writing a book, a couple are launching political action committees, and one is already running for office again. One is under federal investigation, and another still isn’t completely finished contesting the 2010 race.
A state judge has dismissed Joe Miller’s complaint that misspelled write-in votes for Lisa Murkowski should be tossed out. If the ruling stands, it's a blow to the tea party and Sarah Palin.
Write-in votes total more than 80,000. It may take until Nov. 29 for the Alaska Senate election to be certified, but for now, incumbent Lisa Murkowski appears to be the winner.
The GOP, fueled by the tea party movement, is all but certain to take control of the House. The Senate is another story, even though tea party-backed candidates are doing well in key races.
