Lebanese officials say Majid al-Majid, the purported commander of a Sunni militant group with al Qaida links, died while in government custody. Al Majid's group claimed responsibility for the November attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut, which killed at least 23.
The bombing follows Lebanon's arrest of a Saudi member of an Al Qaeda-linked group that bombed the Iranian embassy in Beirut in November.
Many of Lebanon's Sunnis once supported Hezbollah for its resistance of the Israeli occupation. But now, they feel the Shiite group has turned on them.
