Waiting for the finale
In just over a week, the credits for "2002: The Movies" will have rolled. It's traditional to complain about what a bad year it's been for movies, but well, things become traditions for a reason. Aside from one big, fat surprise, the year marched along predictably from superhero in training to Jedi in training to wizard in training. Enjoyable? Absolutely. But there were so many sequels ("Star Trek X," anyone?) and so much marketing that some film scores should have been performed on adding machines. Combine that with the fact that we're all still waiting for the big finish - for the king to return, the Jedi to succumb to the dark side, Harry to graduate from Hogwarts - and it feels as if moviegoers are still waiting for the lights to come up.
