Jill is a symbol of strength for all of us and I know she can feel the world-wide support that we are sending her way. These encouraging words of love are sustaining Jill and her family, and her captors will come to realize the error of their actions and release her. It is our job as human beings and children of God to love unconditionally. So this is for you, Jill, your family, your captors, and anyone else who needs support – I love you, God loves you, and it is only right that you are released quickly and safely.

I have been reading the story of Joseph, when he was sold into slavery and eventually sent to Egypt, and then of what he said years after: Don't worry, brothers, "God meant it for good." He went through many hardships. I have Jill's beautiful picture on my refrigerator.

As a soldier who served 13 months in Iraq, hearing that Ms. Carroll is being held captive has brought me emotionally right back there. I learned to love the Iraqi people through my experiences outside Karbala in the summer of 2004.
