Rory Garzot caught our eye immediately - sitting in the observation car softly strumming an acoustic guitar and singing. Going from Florida to California in coach, he chose the train because it was cheaper than flying out of Pensacola, where he was visiting a friend. As a river guide in California, his seasonal work allows him to take his time traveling. "You can't really be in a hurry" on the train, Rory says. He passes the time with simple pleasures: playing his guitar, reading a book, and looking out the window. As for sleeping in coach, he has no complaints. "I slept like a rock, I think I got maybe a good four hours of sleep – five hours."
