Children play on one of the many Russian tanks that still litter the countryside. The road from Torkham to Kabul passes through the lowland plain of Nongahar Province, past Jalabad, and then up into the Hindu Kush mountains. Along the way, caravans of trucks bring in food and supplies from Pakistan.
