The newest United States Senator Al Franken (D. - Minn.) entered the public eye as a writer and actor on Saturday Night Live in 1975. His best-known character is probably the satirical therapy-addict Stuart Smalley. Franken even starred as Smalley in the 1995 film, 'Stuart Saves His Family.'
