Cheesecake Factory celebrates National Cheesecake Day with a deal. But on Thursday, the Cheesecake Factory gave its social media fans an even sweeter one.
If the Cheesecake Factory's half-off deal for Friday is any indication, restaurant chains are getting ever more clever about using social media.
On Friday, to mark National Cheesecake Day, every customer at a Cheesecake Factory restaurant can get any of the chain's 30-odd signature cheesecakes for half price. That includes everything from fresh strawberry to brownie sundae to the newest Reese's peanut butter chocolate cake cheesecake.
Many chains use special days such as National Cheesecake Day to drum up traffic.
Interestingly, the Cheesecake Factory rewarded its social media fans with an even better deal on Thursday. Fans who follow the national chain on Facebook or Twitter got advance notice of the chain's "preview day" – Thursday – where they could print out a coupon and get a slice of cheesecake for only $1.50 (with a valid ID).
It's one way of using marketing to cement a relationship with the chain's most ardent fans.
Becoming a Facebook fan comes with strings attached. You have to click that you "like" the Cheesecake Factory's Facebook page and reveal your profile information.
But if the thought of wild blueberry white chocolate cheesecake sends you into a dreamy state, then it might be worth the ding to your privacy.
