The Christian Science Monitor - Centennial Celebration

Thoughts on Progress and Freedom

By B.A.Farrell

In reading over the four articles and thinking about the enormous ramifications the web brings to journalism, I realized:

-that the web is offering mankind - world wide - access to freeing ideas about which things like the invention of the printing press and our current developments in all the areas of telecommunication merely hint.

-that this universal medium offers the self-contained ability to police itself,
so I’m more willing to watch as the useless and false elements are discarded as the worthy parts continue to strengthen.

-that we are being called on to let go of our position of “end users” of the product called journalism and embrace our new office and co-producers!
