DollarMan

By Joseph Thomas

The CSMonitor is my most reliable mainstream news source. And by “mainstream,” I mean widely available, not “establishment.”

I listen to Pacifica Radio, local public radio, and skim dozens of periodicals.

I believe print media is dead because not only does no one under 40 read anymore, reading itself is a poor method of acquiring information. It’s much too slow. and it’s also a poor method of archiving information. Nobody is ever going to read all the books in the Library of Congress. They have to be transformed into something that is alive, like a documentary film.

Information is more important today than ever, because the whole world is so interconnected. But all information is not news. Our current media system places entertainment value above relevance. It must be de-funded somehow. It’s already happening in the print media. Television and Hollywood are next…..
