Your climate or your life

By Dick Mozzer

Your climate or your life

Stop for a moment. Freeze for a second. Isn’t fear so compelling to make us stop in our tracks or high tail it out’a here, so to speak? If a robber comes to us and demands our money we really don’t have a choice, do we? We hand over the money and await the unfoldment of events. We have been robbed, now what do we do? Of course life goes on even with these life shaking moments.

On a more pleasant front we enjoy taking a warm bath. We luxuriate in the comfort of the clean, pure water and the soft comforting soap sliding over our skin washing the grime of the day away. There are many things we take for grant it. Our security and our comfort are two that come to mind as these examples illustrate. However, we are really bathed in a wonderful environment that provides us with both security and comfort. The climate of this environment is indicative of our enduring relationship with it. It heightens our awareness of beauty and grace. We wouldn’t want to rob it of its life sustaining provisions. Neither do we want to bathe only in its beauty without taking responsibility. It is the cultivator in us that allows us to prune and nourish for maximum enjoyment and raport.

Today we have taken action. We have stopped to assess the moment and churn over the consequences of our actions. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we trod have given us pause to strike out in new directions for their betterment.

Yes it is important to help keep that atmosphere clean. Even small ways such as the forgone car trip, the thermostat reset for less burning of fuel, the… I am sure you can think of more ways.

Oh, that pure water how we cherish it. It is cleaner because of that more benign detergent we use, the less obsessive pesticides use. Even…

The ideas keep flooding in.

Terra firma, the good earth, is so secure under our feet. More so since we have set aside some space for natural growth in our living space, refrained from the use of invasive species, planted…

We are ensconced in a world with a bright future and to think it all started on that day of quiet contemplation, and persistent resolve. It truly is our climate and our life.
