The Christian Science Monitor - Centennial Celebration

NorthEastWestSouth

By Henry G. Rutledge

The title is where the word “news” came from. That means world news, not just local, state or national. My favorites are the Sacramento Bee and the Monitor. These newspapers–as most of them, are deeply concerned about the rising costs of newsprint and the forests of trees which have to sacrifice their precious lives to bring us our news–and then we merely throw the newspapers away or recycle them. Something drastic has to be done to reverse this waste, and it seems the only recourse is the Internet.
